RJD MLA Bhai Virendra 'threatens' panchayat secretary; incident sparks comparison with web series

NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra, representing Maner, is at the center of a political firestorm after a three-minute audio clip of him allegedly threatening a panchayat secretary went viral on July 27.The phone call, reportedly made to push for a death certificate, starts off as a routine request but quickly spirals into a power-fueled outburst. In the audio, Bhai Virendra can be heard angrily questioning the official’s manners:“The whole country knows me. How dare you not follow proper protocol?”When the panchayat secretary calmly replied that he hadn’t recognised the MLA’s voice, the conversation took a threatening turn. Bhai Virendra allegedly snapped:“I’ll drag you and beat you with a shoe.

Record it if you want.”An agitated official voiced his protest: "Get me transfer but don't talk to me like this." To this, the MLA retorted: "This won't stop at transfer, something else might happen,” a line many have interpreted as a veiled death threat. However, the panchayat secretary held his ground.“I’m not afraid of your threats. Let’s stick to work,” he said.(Though TOI could not confirm the authenticity of the audio, the clip sparked widespread attention across social platforms)
