Filmmaker Anik Dutta is set to return with his much-anticipated film Joto Kando Kolkatatei. Billed as a lighthearted yet intriguing mystery, the film bridges timelines—connecting the present day with the cosmopolitan charm of 1960s Calcutta.The narrative revolves around a cleverly constructed puzzle, with clues hidden in the city’s glamorous past. The retro backdrop, recreated with painstaking detail, not only provides a visual treat but also plays a vital role in the unfolding drama. Through this temporal journey, audiences are invited to explore the untold backstories of the characters, blending history, nostalgia, and suspense.

As part of its promotional build-up, the makers released a special nightclub song on Thursday.

The English number evokes the golden age of Calcutta’s elite nightlife, set against an upscale club reminiscent of the city’s colonial heritage and flourishing jazz culture. The song was launched at a glittering event attended by Roja Paromita Dey, Rik Chatterjee, music director Debojyoti Mishra, singer Tanya Sen and Anik Dutta.

Roja Paromita Dey even embodied her on-screen persona as a singer at a swanky restaurant, while a live performance by Mishra and Sen offered a glimpse of the film’s atmospheric richness.

Joto Kando Kolkatatei features Abir Chatterjee and Bangladeshi actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed in pivotal roles. With this film, Dutta promises not just a cinematic mystery but also a heartfelt homage to an era when Calcutta thrived as a hub of art, culture, and sophistication.
