Journalism should tell truth to power, says Rajendra Chenni

“Telling the truth to power is the duty of journalism, and journalism today should do it effectively,” said Rajendra Chenni, retired English professor at Kuvempu University.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Shivamogga Press Trust to celebrate Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary and present the Lankesh Award in Shivamogga on Tuesday (April 14), Prof. Chenni said journalism played a major role in India’s freedom movement. Mahatma Gandhi used his periodicals to fight for justice in South Africa and later continued the similar exercise against the British in India.
