Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri on Monday urged devotees to remain patient and have faith in both Lord Ram and the ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of Ram Temple donation funds.
In an exclusive interview with CNN-News18, Giri said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the police are conducting a thorough probe and expressed confidence that justice would be served. He stressed that no individual should be spared if found guilty.
Giri Backs SIT Probe
Responding to questions about allegations involving former trustee Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao, Giri said that if the SIT finds evidence against anyone, including them, strict legal action must follow. He maintained that the law should take its course without exception.
Giri also said he has complete faith in his fellow trustees. He explained that since he was based in Pune for much of the period in question, he had entrusted the Trust’s day-to-day functioning to the other trustees and was not aware of any alleged irregularities. However, he added that irrespective of whether the alleged theft involved a small or large amount, every allegation must be investigated thoroughly.
Treasurer Urges Devotees To Keep Faith
Appealing to devotees, Giri said the investigation would reach its logical conclusion and asked them not to lose faith in the temple or the legal process.
His remarks come amid an ongoing probe into the alleged misappropriation of Ram Temple donations. Earlier in the day, the temple trust accepted the resignation of its general secretary, Champat Rai, and named Bajrang Bagra as his successor, according to sources.
The investigation has so far led to the arrest of eight people, including Rai’s driver, Ramashankar Yadav alias Tinnu. So far, no criminal case has been registered against either Rai or Mishra.
