Jyothika on why ‘Karuppu’ stands out; says, ‘It’s not just one of the run-of-the-mill commercial films’

Tamil star Suriya is basking in the success of his latest fantasy action drama movie, ‘Karuppu’. As the film has collected more than Rs 180 crore worldwide, his wife and actress Jyothika has opened up about the huge success of the film. She shared that the entire family is very happy and overwhelmed by the response.

Jyothika shares her appreciation

Speaking during a recent interaction, Jyothika said they are grateful for the appreciation coming from fans, as per a Moneycontrol report. She said the success of the film has brought a lot of happiness to their home and everyone is celebrating the achievement.The ‘Shaitaan’ actress praised Suriya for always choosing stories that have strong emotions and meaning. According to her, Suriya likes films that tell good stories and connect with people.She said, "We're very overwhelmed. Suriya loves telling good stories, and he always makes sure there's a story in every film. But the box office numbers are also required, I think, for the heroes. Or for actors, any actor, any budget. No one's here to be at a loss. So, it's very important for them also to churn out the numbers."

Film has more than just mass appeal

Jyothika also spoke about what made ‘Karuppu’ special for her. She said the film is not just a regular commercial entertainer and has a strong emotional core.

She said, "Definitely, it's very overwhelming. And if you see Karuppu, along with being an absolute fan and commercial film, there's a story going on. He's playing a God, and there's something to the script, definitely. It's not just one of the run-of-the-mill commercial films. It has its own soul." She added that the story has been presented in a way that can connect with mass audiences while still carrying strong emotions.

Praises Suriya’s performance in the climax

Jyothika was especially impressed with Suriya’s work in the final portions of the film. She said, "But the last ten minutes of the film, I mean, Suriya's really performed brilliantly. We're so overwhelmed and so happy with the love. It's a celebration at home."Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles. As per Sacnilk, the film has achieved worldwide collections of Rs 188.82 crore in seven days.
