A Kadapa POCSO court has sentenced Palla Venkata Vidya Kiran, 35, to twenty years’ rigorous imprisonment for attempting to rape a minor girl in 2021

A man convicted of attempting to rape a minor girl has been sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for twenty years, besides payment of ₹5,000 as fine. The court has also directed the State government to pay ₹10.50 lakh as compensation to the victim.

District POCSO Court judge T. Keshava convicted Palla Venkata Vidya Kiran, 35, of Meerapuram village in Kamalapuram mandal, on charges of rape and sexual assault of a minor under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
