Kai Trump, the 18 year old granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, is facing strong criticism online after posting a new YouTube video where she shops at what she calls the “world’s most expensive grocery store.

” In the 18 minute video titled “I Tried the World’s Most Expensive Grocery Store,” Kai Trump walks through an Erewhon store in Los Angeles while a Secret Service agent stays nearby. During the video, she casually fills her basket with pricey health supplements, hot food, drinks and snacks before revealing that the total bill for one bag of groceries came to $233.But instead of enjoying the video, many viewers reacted with anger.

Several people said the video felt “tone deaf,” especially at a time when many Americans say they are struggling with everyday grocery costs. Comments under the video quickly turned into a debate about wealth, privilege and rising food prices in the United States.

Everything’s crazy expensive,” Kai Trump tells viewers. “So we’re going to get my favorite stuff, even supplements, whatever it may be and then go home and try it out.”As she walks through the aisles, she adds several expensive items to her basket. These include Vital Proteins Collagen Creamer, Body Health Perfect Amino tablets, Erewhon Vitamin C, and Shilajit Liquid Complex supplements meant to support energy and immunity.While picking items, she casually says things like, “Let’s just throw that in there” and “Let’s throw that into the mix, why not?”Her basket also includes a $17 jar of Medjool dates, a $19.99 sushi platter, and several items from the store’s hot food bar.
