Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who is leading the rebel faction of Trinamool Congress MPs, in a letter to Speaker Om Birla sought the expulsion of Trinamool chief whip and Mamata Banerjee loyalist Kalyan Banerjee from the Lok Sabha for “repeated verbal abuse and misogynistic remarks directed” at her and other women members during the sittings of the House.
In her letter dated June 10, 2026, the MP from Barasat constituency in West Bengal said the complaint was a follow-up to an earlier one dated May 28, 2026, and sought immediate intervention and action against Mr. Banerjee.

Ms. Dastidar said Mr. Banerjee had, on several occasions, used “objectionable, disrespectful and inappropriate language against her and other women members during parliamentary proceedings.” She said the conduct formed part of a recurring pattern of “personal attacks, intimidation and misogynistic comments that went beyond the limits of robust political disagreement and entered the realm of personal abuse and harassment.”
The letter invoked Rule 349 and Rule 352 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha, which require every member to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the dignity of the House.
Ms. Dastidar said the conduct had not only caused personal anguish but had created an atmosphere that discouraged the free participation of women in parliamentary proceedings.
The letter requested the Speaker to take cognisance of the misconduct, recommend appropriate disciplinary action, and consider the immediate expulsion of Mr. Banerjee from the Lok Sabha.
