Bhopal: The producer of the controversial upcoming film ‘Kala Hiran’ allegedly received death threats from anonymous callers from across the border, in Pakistan, threatening to blow him up if he released it.The film, believed to be based on the 1998 black buck poaching case against Salman Khan, hit the headlines after the actor moved Delhi High Court seeking a halt to the film’s production, promotion and release.The producer, Amit Jani, lodged a police complaint claiming that he received the anonymous calls while he was in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia recently to offer prayers at the Shri Pitambara Peeth temple.According to the complaint, based on which the police filed an FIR, Jani was put up at a private hotel in Datia when he started receiving WhatsApp calls, audio and video messages from Pakistani numbers.He told the police that around 1 am on July 6, he received audio and video clips from a Pakistani number. The following morning, around 9.47 am, he allegedly received another WhatsApp call from a different Pakistani number, he alleged, saying that the caller claimed to be an aide of “Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti”.The caller, Jani alleged, warned him against releasing ‘Kala Hiran’, threatening to kill him in a bomb attack.
The caller also claimed no security cover would be able to shield or protect him, the producer alleged.The sleuths suspect that Bhatti, whom the caller claimed to be an aide of, is the Pakistan-based social media influencer and controversial figure, who has frequently courted attention through provocative online videos and has previously made public statements on issues involving India.However, they said they were still in the process of verifying the authenticity of the caller’s claim.Further, in his complaint, Jani claimed that the person seen in a WhatsApp video call he received was carrying sophisticated weapons and claimed to possess explosives, grenades and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).Datia SP Mayur Khandelwal confirmed the registration of an FIR in the matter.A resident of Noida, Jani owns Jani Firefox Media and has produced films based on controversial and real-life subjects, including ‘Udaipur Files’, ‘Karachi to Noida’ and now, ‘Kala Hiran’.
