Sarangi maestro Kamal Sabri has added another milestone to his journey. The musician was recently honoured with the Global Iconic Artist Award in London. The felicitation reflects Sabri’s sustained effort to take the sarangi beyond traditional spaces and onto global stages.
The award was presented at the World Heart Beat Awards 2026, organised by the World Heart Beat Music Academy during the Peace Through Music concert. Sabri, who was a presenter at the Times Food and Nightlife Awards’ Delhi edition, is a seventh-generation musician from the Moradabad Gharana and the Professor of Practice Award son of Sabri Khan.

His recognitions include an Honorary Doctorate in Music and the Professor of Practice Award
Speaking about the honour, Sabri said, “It feels like a big responsibility to carry forward now, in terms of your goals and performances. When you perform outside the country, you are not only representing your tradition but also representing India. When I received the award, I realised I need to be more responsible towards my music.”
