The Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Tanu Weds Manu' is perhaps the most awaited third part of the franchise. Latest reports have suggested that the film is facing some issues. Reportedly, 'Tanu Weds Manu 3' has hit a roadblock after a legal notice was issued to the director Aanand L.
Rai.Let's take a closer look at this.
The hype around 'Tanu Weds Manu 3'
'Tanu Weds Manu' was a sleeper hit owing to its simple storyline and earnest performances by the leads, Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan. The success of the first part led to its sequel, 'Tanu Weds Manu 2' which featured Ranaut in dual roles. With a significant buzz for the third instalment, reports have suggested that Kangana will be playing a triple role in the film.

However, the excitement surrounding the third part for the film seems to have diminished as there has been an apparent dispute over the rights of the movie, as reported by News 18.
A notice has declared that no other party can move forward with a sequel without authorization, warning that any attempt would be treated as infringement. This clash has reportedly strained the relationship between the production company Eros and Aanand L.
Rai, who has been vocal in the past about his creative differences with them.
The 'Raanjhanaa' connection
As reported by Mid Day, the rift also has a bearing in Rai’s earlier criticism of how his film 'Raanjhanaa' (2013) was altered for a re-release.
In the original, Dhanush’s character Kundan dies in the climax, but in the Tamil re-release titled 'Ambikapathy,' he survives, altering the emotional impact of the plot. Rai openly disapproved of this use of AI to tweak the climax of the film.In a social media note, Rai wrote, "The past three weeks have been surreal, and deeply upsetting. To watch 'Raanjhanaa,' a film born out of care, conflict, collaboration, and creative risk, be altered, repackaged, and re-released without my knowledge or consent has been nothing short of devastating.
What makes it worse is the complete ease and casualness with which it's been done."The lead actor of the film, Dhanush also responded to the use of AI in the movie. He shared a note that read, "The re-release of 'Raanjhanaa' with an AI-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection."While the wait for 'Tanu Weds Manu 3' continues, Pinkvilla had recently reported that Kangana Ranaut was quite excited to explore the first triple role of her career and is awaiting to hear a complete narration from the director.
