Vishnu Manchu’s mythological epic 'Kannappa' finally hit theatres this Friday, and it has been receiving a positive response at the box office. Following the film’s successful debut, the makers held a press meet where Vishnu addressed the possibility of a Kannappa prequel.According to a report by Gulte, Vishnu revealed that 'Kannappa' was originally conceived as a standalone film. However, he shared that a well-known young director from the current generation recently approached him with the idea of exploring Thinnadu’s early life — the journey before he became the ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, known as Kannappa.Vishnu laughed off the idea of a prequel but did not rule anything out.The 'Kannappa' team has been basking in the film's positive reception, especially the praise for its emotionally resonant climax and sincere storytelling. The movie has some of the biggest stars playing brief roles in the film, including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal. Vishnu took a moment to acknowledge the massive contribution of his extended cast, especially superstar Prabhas. He also acknowledged that there's no ego in accepting that Prabhas brought that initial mass pull.
The film features Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Mohanlal as Kirata, and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati.'Kannappa' is Vishnu Manchu's dream project, and the film has made approximately Rs 16.35 crore as per trade analyst Sacnilk in the first two days in India. The movie directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh is based on the legendary tale of Kannappa, a tribal hunter from the Chenchu tribe in Andhra Pradesh who transforms from an atheist into one of Lord Shiva's most devoted followers through pure and selfless faith.Veteran actors like Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Preity Mukhundhan, and others play important supporting roles.
