‘Kara’ release date locked: Vignesh Raja directorial action entertainer starring Dhanush hit theatres on THIS date

Tamil star Dhanush will be seen in the upcoming action entertainer ‘Kara’ directed by Vignesh Raja. The makers have announced the release of the film after they shared the title on Pongal. The film is set to hit the big screens on April 30.

Release date officially announced

As per a report by IANS, filmmaker Ishari K Ganesh, who backed the project, made the announcement during the cultural festival VELS Nakshatra 2026 at VELS University. He said, “Dhanush’s upcoming film KARA is scheduled for theatrical release on April 30.”During the event, Ishari K Ganesh also spoke from his heart. He said, “If I were to call something my dream project, it would certainly be 'Vada Chennai 2' with actor Dhanush.”

His words made fans very happy. The announcement made the event even more special. The film is produced under the banner of Vels Film International.

Title reveal and first look

The team revealed the title ‘Kara’ earlier during Pongal. They released a poster showing Dhanush with an intense look. The poster carried the line, “Sometimes, staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive.” Director Vignesh Raja later confirmed the title on X. He wrote, “D54 is Kara.

An emotionally rooted suspense thriller. We are coming this summer.” The film was earlier known as ‘#D54’.

Cast of ‘Kara’

‘Kara’ stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. The cast also includes K. S. Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, and Prithvi Pandiraj in key roles.The story is written by Alfred Prakash and Vignesh Raja, the same duo behind the thriller action film ‘Por Thozhil’.Music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with visuals by Theni Eswar and editing by Sreejith Sarang.Dhanush was last seen in the romance drama film ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ directed by Aanand L. Rai opposite Kriti Sanon.
