There were growing voices in Kargil on Wednesday (April 29, 2026) questioning Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena’s decision to carve out five new districts in Ladakh, with only two Muslim-majority districts.

The criticism comes a day ahead of Union Home Amit Shah’s two-day visit to Leh, with several leaders in Kargil publicly expressing their reservations about the move.
