Bengaluru: As part of the nationwide pulse polio immunisation drive, Karnataka aims to cover over 64.8 lakh children. Polio drops will be administered at anganwadi centres and health facilities across the state Sunday. All children, from newborns up to five years of age, are required to receive the vaccine.Health Minister UT Khader Thursday said 36,076 vaccination booths have been set up across the state, with 7,197 supervisors appointed to oversee the exercise. In all, 1,14,213 health workers have been deployed for the drive.Urging all parents to ensure their children receive the vaccine, the minister said, “Even if kids are receiving other routine vaccinations, polio dose shouldn’t be missed. Those who are unaware of their nearest vaccination centre can obtain information through the health department’s mobile application available on Google Play Store.”Under the routine immunisation programme, every child receives five doses of oral polio vaccine (OPV) and three of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV).
