Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner C.N. Meena Nagaraj has said that no family should be left out in the socio-economic and educational survey being conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, during a meeting with representatives of various organisations and communities on Tuesday.
The survey would cover all families, including the migrants, those who did not possess ration cards and people living in forest areas. The door-to-door survey will begin on September 22 and conclude on October 7.
“As per the records, the survey would cover 3,31,740 families that possess electricity connection (RR numbers). As many as 2,688 enumerators will take part in the process. They will record the data collected with the help of mobile-based applications. The families have to answer 60 questions related to socio-economic and educational conditions,” Ms. Nagaraj said.
Each enumerator will cover 150 houses; in the hilly areas (Malnad), each enumerator has been allotted 100 houses considering the low density of population there, the Deputy Commissioner said. School teachers will also be involved in the process, she added.
Chikkamagaluru Zilla Panchayat CEO H.S. Keerthana said that the data to be collected as part of the survey was significant. It would be utilised to work out strategies and schemes for their overall development, she said. “Community leaders should spread awareness among their people about the importance of the survey,” she added.
