Karnataka Man Stabbed To Death In Sleep By Roommate In Nepal After Heated Argument

The police said Sahil had recently invited a friend from Belagavi to join him at the hotel for work.

A 25-year-old man from Karnataka’s Belagavi district was allegedly murdered by his roommate in Nepal, prompting a police investigation and a search for the accused. The deceased has been identified as Sahil Riyaz Ahmed Momin, a resident of Khanapur in Belagavi district.

According to police and family members, Sahil had previously worked in Dubai and Thailand before taking up a job at a private hotel in Damak, located in Nepal’s Jhapa district, around 25 days ago. He was sharing accommodation with a man identified as Saddam Hussain.

The police said Sahil had recently invited a friend from Belagavi to join him at the hotel for work. The friend was staying in the same room on the night before the incident. An argument allegedly broke out between Sahil and Saddam that night. The friend intervened and managed to calm the situation, preventing the dispute from escalating further.

However, early the next morning, Saddam allegedly attacked Sahil with a knife while he was asleep. Hearing his cries for help, the friend allegedly attempted to stop the assault, but the accused managed to flee from the spot.

Sahil was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed during treatment.

Following the incident, Sahil’s family in Khanapur has been in contact with the Belagavi district police and is coordinating with Nepal Police authorities to complete legal procedures and facilitate the return of his mortal remains to India.

Nepal Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and launched a search operation to trace the absconding accused.

Further investigation is underway.
