A portion of a government school at Kadagaravalli in Sakleshpur taluk in Hassan district of Karnataka collapsed following heavy rain on August 19 morning. A wall and the roof were damaged. However, nobody was injured.

Hassan district administration had declared a holiday on August 19 for schools in Sakleshpur taluk.
Many parts of Hassan, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts have been receiving heavy rains for the past few days.
Tripura in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru received 148.5 mm of rainfall in 24 hours that ended at 8.30 a.m on August 19, the highest in Karnataka. Melpal in N.R. Pura takuk of Chikkamagaluru district received 118 mm, and Begar in Sringeri taluk received 115.5 mm. Hongadahalla of Sakleshpur taluk in Hassan district recorded 103 mm of rainfall.
The inflow into reservoirs has been increasing. KPTCL officials are expected to open the crest gates of Linganamakki dam, built across Sharavati river in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga, on August 19. The reservoir of the dam is almost full. As of August 19 morning, the water level in the reservoir stood at 1,816.2 feet against the full reservoir level of 1,819 feet. Against the total live capacity of 151.64 TMC, live capacity was 142.33 TMC (93.87%).
