Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who was suspended from the BRS party recently, distanced herself from the BRS stand on the Vice-President election, and said Justice Sudershan Reddy should be seen above party lines as he was the true son of Telangana.

“His deep understanding of constitutional principles would add dignity to the office,” she said, adding that Justice Reddy could bring the same respect to the Vice-President’s post as T.N. Seshan once did to the Election Commission. She made these remarks while speaking to the media after paying respects to Kaloji Narayana Rao and Chakali Ilamma on Tuesday.

Ms. Kavitha’s remarks are in contrast to the BRS’s stand that stayed away from the elections blaming the BJP and the Congress for the urea crisis. Her remarks also prove that she is taking her own independent stand on issues, though she opposed only her cousins in the party not BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao or her brother K.T. Rama Rao.

Ms. Kavitha displayed her reverence for Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao, stating that she would carry forward his agenda in securing social justice. She said that if Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao wins a third term, he would certainly fulfil the promise of Social Telangana, and Jagruthi would carry forward that agenda.
