C.V. Sudarsan, secretary and treasurer of The Kennel Club of India passed away in Chennai on Sunday (February 8, 2026). He was 77.
Sudarsan was also the president of The Madras Canine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Rukmani Sudarsan; son, Siddhartha Sudarsan; daughter-in-law, Vaishnavi; daughter, Roopa Balaji; son-in-law, B. V. Balaji; and grandchildren.
He was the International All Breeds Judge and was widely respected for his strong advocacy of Indian native breeds, including the Rajapalayam.
According to details on the Madras Canine Club website, the Madras Canine Club was started in the year 1976 with late Mrs. Leela Ratnam as its founder president, Mr. C.V. Sudarsan as the founder secretary. After the demise of Mrs .Ratnam, Mr. Sudarsan was elected as the president and Mrs. Shyamala Murugesan as its founder treasurer along with a band of devoted hardcore dog lovers most of whom still continue to be with us in some capacity or the other.
He was a Chartered Accountant too. Mr. Sudarsan served as the Chief Editor of the Indian Kennel Gazette, the official publication of the Kennel Club of India (KCI).
