A late-night road rage incident in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram ended with police briefly taking into custody Madhav Suresh, son of Union Minister and BJP MP Suresh Gopi, along with Congress leader Vinod Krishna on Thursday.

According to police, Madhav was travelling from Sasthamangalam to Vellayambalam when his car came head-to-head with Vinod Krishna’s vehicle, which had just taken a U-turn from the opposite side. With little space for the cars to pass, an argument broke out between the two. Witnesses at the spot said Madhav was blocking Vinod Krishna’s car and engaging in a heated exchange.

Police soon reached the location after being alerted. Some bystanders alleged that Madhav appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and tested, but the results confirmed he was not in an inebriated state. Madhav, in turn, told the police that he had seen Vinod Krishna driving while speaking on the phone.

Officers then asked both parties whether they wished to register complaints. After discussions, neither side chose to proceed with a case. Following this, both were released.

On Friday, Madhav responded to the altercation with Congress leader Vinod Krishna in an Instagram story, writing, “There are no complaints against Vinod Krishna, Sir, as we both understood what we did wrong to each other and he also knows how he initiated the situation.”

Madhav alleged that while the issue had been settled, “like a bad apple among a bunch, our wonderful police force has some bad apples too, and one of them, in spite of Vinod sir not having a complaint, wanted to make sure cameras captured me getting into a police jeep.”

He added that the crowd present at the spot “also knew exactly what happened there.” Concluding on a critical note, he remarked: “I mean, nobody really cares about the truth, do they...”
