Amid rising heat and humid conditions in Kerala, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning in the State after the temperature reached the threshold limit of heatwave conditions. The temperature has exceeded 40°C in Palakkad, and the difference from normal was more than 4.5°C on Wednesday (April 22, 2026). If the temperature continues to exceed 40°C again, along with a departure of 4.5°C above normal for a second consecutive day on Thursday, a heatwave is likely to be declared.

Currently, based on the data from the temperature gauges of IMD in Palakkad and Kollam districts, a heatwave warning has been declared in these districts.
