Kerala Lottery Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery 2026: The Kerala Lottery has announced a major upgrade for its flagship Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery 2026, increasing the first prize from ₹25 crore to ₹30 crore while retaining the ticket price at ₹500.
The revised prize structure, approved by the State Lotteries Directorate, makes this year’s Onam Bumper the biggest-ever jackpot offered under Kerala’s state-run lottery scheme.
While the ₹5 crore increase has grabbed attention, it has also raised a common question among lottery buyers: Why has the Kerala government increased the first prize without raising the ticket price?
Why Was the Onam Bumper Jackpot Increased?
The Kerala government has not officially stated a specific reason behind the increase.
However, the move comes as the Thiruvonam Bumper continues to be the state’s most popular lottery, recording strong demand every year in the run-up to the Onam festival.
By increasing the jackpot to ₹30 crore while keeping tickets priced at ₹500, the government has made the bumper draw more attractive without increasing the entry cost for participants.
The revised prize structure also redistributes payouts across categories. While the first prize has been increased by ₹5 crore, the third prize has been reduced from ₹50 lakh to ₹25 lakh, suggesting that the overall prize allocation has been rebalanced rather than simply expanded.

Why the Onam Bumper Matters
The Thiruvonam Bumper is Kerala’s biggest festive lottery and traditionally witnesses heavy ticket sales ahead of Onam.
The first prize was last revised in 2022, when it was increased from ₹12 crore to ₹25 crore. The latest revision to ₹30 crore marks another milestone for the state’s most sought-after bumper draw.
What Happens Next?
Following the launch of the Thiruvonam Bumper on July 17, attention is expected to turn to the Kerala Monsoon Bumper Lottery 2026. The results of monsoon bumper will be announced on July 18, at 2 pm.
The Monsoon Bumper is another major seasonal lottery that typically attracts significant interest before the festive lottery calendar gathers momentum.
With a record ₹30 crore jackpot, an unchanged ₹500 ticket price, and one of the country’s largest lottery prize pools, the Kerala Lottery Onam Bumper 2026 is expected to remain one of the most closely watched state lottery draws this year.
