Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal on Monday (July 28, 2025) launched the 2025 edition of the Thiruvonam Bumper lottery operated by the Kerala State Lotteries department. The lottery carries a first prize of ₹25 crore.

The draw will be held at 2 p.m. on September 27 this year.

The Thiruvonam Bumper lottery is priced at ₹500 per ticket. The second prize carries ₹1 crore each for 20 winners, and the third prize, ₹50 lakh for 20 winners. The fourth prize is ₹5 lakh each for numbers in the 10 series, and the fifth prize, ₹2 lakh each for the numbers in the 10 series.

The Thiruvonam Bumper has the highest first prize among the lotteries run by the State Lotteries department.

In 2024, the department had sold a record 71,43,008 tickets for the Thiruvonam bumper. In all, 80 lakh tickets were printed.

As many lottery winners are unaware of the taxation rules and investment opportunities, the department had also organised a session for prize winners in 2023.

Mr. Balagopal attributed the huge popularity of the Kerala Lottery to the “transparency with which it is managed and credibility.”

Antony Raju MLA presided. V.K. Prasanth MLA, Lotteries director Abraham Renn and Lottery Welfare Board chairman T.B. Subair were also present.
