Kerala Science Congress in Kochi from January 30

The 38th Kerala Science Congress organised by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) will begin at St. Albert’s College here on Friday (January 30, 2026).

The focal theme of this year’s event is ‘Ocean science for Blue Economy and ecosystem restoration’. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will formally inaugurate the event at 10 a.m. on February 1, according to a communication.

Tessy Thomas, former Director-General (Aeronautical Systems) at the Defence Research and Development Organisation, will receive the Kerala Sasthra Puraskaram 2024 for her lifetime contributions and achievements in the area of science and technology from the Chief Minister.

A national science meet aimed at strengthening collaboration between States and Central agencies in science and technology will be held on Friday. The meet will also discuss possibilities for inter-State collaboration in areas such as bio-economy, energy production, and climate change, the communication said.

Around 2,000 delegates, including scientists, researchers, teachers, students, and industry experts, will participate in the event. Technical sessions will be held across 13 thematic areas, including agricultural and food sciences, biotechnology, environmental science, health science, physical sciences, engineering and technology, fisheries and animal husbandry sciences, and scientific social responsibility, according to the communication.
