Police investigation so far has revealed that Siya and Chetan spent a cumulative 238 hours talking to each other over the six months

The investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has turned attention to the backgrounds of the two accused—his fiancée Siya Goyal and her lover Chetan Chaudhary.

Both the accused came from business-oriented families and while Siya owned a bakery, Chetan’s father ran a dry fruits business. This is how their relationship is believed to have developed.

How Siya And Chetan Met

According to a report by News18 Marathi, work got Siya and Chetan close as they often spoke about their business. Their professional association reportedly evolved into a romantic relationship that continued even after Siya’s engagement to Ketan Agarwal was finalised.

Police have said the two knew each other for around three years and worked together before the murder case came to light.

Investigators have also found extensive communication between them in the months leading up to Ketan’s death. They examined records of 2,004 calls exchanged between the duo between January and June this year. The analysis revealed that they spent a cumulative 238 hours talking to each other over the six months.

The report further says that both Siya and Chetan were BBA dropouts and the two spent considerable time together through work, which eventually developed into a relationship.

Investigators allege that while Siya’s family was aware of her relationship with Chetan, they did not approve of the match. Ketan’s father has meanwhile claimed that his family had initially rejected the marriage proposal and that Siya’s family repeatedly approached them before the alliance was finalised.

Police are examining whether family opposition to the relationship contributed to the events that followed.

Investigators claim Siya and Chetan made multiple unsuccessful attempts to kill Ketan before allegedly pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. What was initially reported as a trekking accident was later reclassified as murder after the family’s suspicions and police investigation uncovered evidence of planning and coordination between the two accused.
