Siya Goyal (20) and Chetan Chaudhary (22) are accused of conspiring to murder 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal by allegedly pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort.

As Ketan Agarwal's murder continues to dominate national headlines, another angle emerged this week when a Pune-based legal professional sent a Rs 10 crore defamation notice to Siya Goyal's brother, Sahil Goyal. While most national publications, including The Times of India and Hindustan Times, described him as a 'lawyer', The Indian Express referred to him as an 'advocate'. So who actually sent the notice, a lawyer or an advocate? Or are the two terms interchangeable? News18 explains.
Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Fresh details have emerged in the investigation of murder case of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, with police saying the two accused allegedly communicated using “code words" before and after the crime.
Investigators on Friday recovered a second mobile phone belonging to accused Siya Goyal, which they believe could provide crucial leads in deciphering the coded conversations exchanged with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary.
Siya Goyal (20) and Chetan Chaudhary (22) are accused of conspiring to murder 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal by allegedly pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18.
The Lohagad Fort incident, initially believed to be a trekking accident, was in fact a carefully planned murder carried out after his fiancée Siya Goyal gave a pre-arranged signal to her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary. According to Pune Rural police, Chaudhary followed Agarwal and Goyal to the hill fort on June 18 and waited near a secluded cliff for a signal from Goyal before carrying out the attack.
Investigating Officer Manoj Pawar told the court that further investigation revealed the accused had used code words while communicating, though the meaning and purpose of those terms are yet to be established, India Today reported.
Police had earlier seized one mobile phone each from Siya and Chetan after their arrest. The newly recovered second phone belonging to Siya is expected to help investigators analyse additional chats and digital evidence.
Meanwhile, a Maharashtra court earlier today sent Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to 14-day judicial custody.
The accused were produced before the Vadgaon Maval court after their police custody ended. The police sought an extension of their remand and permission to conduct polygraph tests on both accused.
On July 2, the police took Siya Goyal to a location in Pune where she and Chetan Chaudhary had allegedly rehearsed how to push her fiancé and realtor Ketan Agarwal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort.
Following the alleged murder, Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested and have been remanded in police custody till July 3.
“Investigation has revealed that Siya and Chetan had rehearsed at a hillock-like space near a club in Lullanagar how to push Ketan off the cliff at Lohagad Fort. Today, Siya was taken to the spot, where she identified the place where they had allegedly carried out the rehearsal," a Pune Rural Police official said.
The alleged rehearsal took place in May and probe is on to find out the exact date and other details, the official informed.
