Speaking to reporters in Pune, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said the Lohagad Fort incident reflected a disturbing social trend that warranted deeper introspection.

CM Fadnavis directed the Secretary of the Law and Judiciary Department to initiate the necessary process for Nikam's appointment.
Vishal Agarwal, the father of Ketan Agarwal, on Friday met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and requested that the murder case be tried in a fast-track court. He also sought the appointment of senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case.
CM Fadnavis assured Ketan Agarwal's family that the government would ensure strict punishment for those responsible and spare no effort in securing justice. He also accepted the family's request to have the case tried in a fast-track court and approved the appointment of Nikam as the Special Public Prosecutor.
Ketan's fiancee, Siya Goyal (20), and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary (22), are accused of pushing the 25-year-old to his death from Lohagad Fort in Pune district's Maval taluka on June 18.
According to police, Ketan and Siya were scheduled to marry in November, but she allegedly did not want to go ahead with the marriage. Investigators claim Siya and Chetan conspired to kill him and carried out the plan by pushing him off a cliff.
CM Fadnavis directed the Secretary of the Law and Judiciary Department to initiate the necessary process for Nikam's appointment. Nikam has conveyed his consent to appear as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case, according to the Chief Minister's Office.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Pune, CM Fadnavis said the Lohagad Fort incident reflected a disturbing social trend that warranted deeper introspection.
"It is an extremely shocking and incomprehensible incident. As a society, we need to reflect on why educated young men and women from good families develop such criminal intent and a desire for revenge. This is not merely a criminal issue; it also has a social dimension," he said.
The Chief Minister added that society must build a stronger support system to prevent such vengeful tendencies from taking root among young people.
