NBA player Kevin Garnett appears to be getting along well with the new owners of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore have been treating him well. He previously had a tense relationship with the former owner, Glen Taylor.
Under him, Garnett’s No. 21 never received the official retirement it deserved.
Additionally, he openly resisted any move to honor it while he remained the owner. However, since the new owners won the arbitration that solidified their takeover in February 2025, they have made reconciling with Garnett a top priority.
Kevin Garnett reunites with the Minnesota Timberwolves as new owners mend broken ties and eye future role
Kevin Garnett is the best Minnesota Timberwolves player of all time. Since his 1995 draft selection and his 2007 trade, he has solidified his position as the best player.
However, because of his issues with the former owner, Glen Taylor, his tenure with the team was rocky.

Fortunately, things appear certain to change now that Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez are officially taking over as owners. The team's reporter Darren Wolfson recently discussed how the new ownership is mending KG's relationship with the team. Given Kevin Garnett's passion for the team, the tense relationship was a negative reflection on the company.
Hence, this is a positive shift for the team. There have been long-standing rumours that Garnett's famous No. 21 may eventually be retired under new ownership. Now, Darren Wolfson has addressed the rumour. He also brought up the prospect of KG having a direct role in the Minnesota Timberwolves' structure. He recently said: “Behind the scenes there’s already been work done. You talk to one of KG’s good friends, well multiple good friends here in town Troy Hudson, Gary Trent Sr.,
yeah they think the likelihood is now. Incredibly more so with Alex and Marc in charge with Glen out of the picture, that something happens. What exactly that looks like, is it a consultant role? I don’t know exactly. Kevin wants to have his fingerprints on the roster.
”
It would be great for the franchise and the fan base if KG took on a consulting role. He has been active in the media since his retirement in 2016, working for TNT and producing his own podcast. He has also inspired the next generation of players. He would be ideal for a consultant position because of his enthusiasm and expertise in basketball. Also read: Larsa Pippen's boyfriend reacts as WWHL host digs into girlfriend’s past on Live TV: "One of the best humans I've ever met"
