Lucknow: King George’s Medical University (KGMU) on Sunday caught four alleged touts who were misleading patients and attendants with promises of cheaper medicines and diagnostic tests, diverting them to private medical institutions.
The accused were nabbed from the cardiology department and handed over to the police.KGMU officials said the action was part of a drive ordered by vice-chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand against touts operating across OPDs of different departments and the trauma centre. The accused have been booked and handed over to the police.Spokesperson Prof KK Singh stated that repeated complaints had been received about patients, especially from outside districts, being targeted and financially exploited by being pushed towards private institutions under false pretences.
