Dumka: The murder of a couple and their minor son in Danga village of Godda district on Monday night was carried out by their extended family members who suspected the duo of practising witchcraft, police said.
SDPO of Godda, Ashok Priyadarshi, on Wednesday said the three accused who were arrested on Tuesday have confessed to the crime. Three more are on the run, he added.The victims were identified as Darbari Murmu, 50, his wife Makku Baski, 45, and their son Jeetnarayan Murmu, 12. They were hacked to death by sharp-edged weapons. “The motive traces back to revenge for a family member’s death eight years ago, blamed on black magic by the victims’ family. An SIT has been formed,” the SDPO said.Three accused killed the three as they blamed the couple for the death of a relative eight years ago. They claimed the person died as they practised black magic on him
