Kirill Kaprizov, the star forward for the Minnesota Wild, is in talks for a new contract. On Friday, August 15, 2025, hockey reporter Michael Russo spoke on the DFO Rundown Podcast.
He said the Wild and Kaprizov are “not far apart” on money. But Russo added that some messages have been “lost in translation” this offseason. Wild general manager Bill Guerin is waiting for Kaprizov to return to Minnesota so they can talk face-to-face.

Novokuznetsk, Russia, is home to Cyril Kaprizov. Joining the NHL in 2020, he has been the leading scorer for the Wild since then. Last season, he notched 46 goals.His current contract is almost over. Training camp starts in September 2025 in Minnesota. Russo said Bill Guerin wants to sit down with Kaprizov in person when he gets back.
