The skies over Thiruvidanthai Beach recently turned into a spectacular canvas of colours as the fourth edition of the Tamil Nadu International Kite Festival took flight during the Independence Day weekend, drawing families, tourists, and kite enthusiasts from across the region.
This year’s showstopper was a series of striking kites inspired by popular cartoon and animation characters, alongside giant whales, superheroes, and other vibrant shapes, which soared high against the sea breeze.

“Every year, this festival keeps getting bigger. Chennai is no longer just about beaches and temples, we’re slowly becoming a hub for unique international events,” shared R Kavitha Selvaraj, a visitor from Chennai who had brought her children to experience the celebration.
