It’s New York or nothing now.

With their backs against the wall and Madison Square Garden on the verge of another heartbreaking night, the New York Knicks delivered a comeback for the ages, erasing a 29-point deficit to beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

The Knicks completed the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, turning what looked like a certain defeat into a franchise-defining win that puts them just one victory away from their first NBA championship since 1973.

Brunson, Anunoby Ignite Historic Rally

For much of the night, the Spurs appeared to be in complete control.

San Antonio stormed out to a massive lead and silenced the Garden crowd for the second straight game. At one stage, the Spurs led by 29 points in the second half (the biggest ever lead at halftime in an NBA Final) and looked set to take a commanding grip on the series.

Then, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby happened.

Brunson recovered from a miserable opening quarter, where he missed all four of his field-goal attempts, to finish with a game-high 36 points, seven assists and three steals.

Time and again, the Brunson Burner continues to cook and deliver when his team needs him most.

Anunoby was equally brilliant. The forward scored 33 points on an ultra-efficient 10-for-15 shooting night, including 7-of-9 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed four rebounds and produced the game’s biggest play.

With seconds remaining, Brunson’s go-ahead three-pointer missed the mark. But Anunoby fought through a crowd of Spurs defenders to grab the rebound and score the winning putback, sending Madison Square Garden into complete chaos, as the Knicks took a one-point lead with 1.1 seconds left on the clock.

Wembanyama Fades Under Pressure

While the Knicks’ stars rose to the occasion, Victor Wembanyama endured a nightmare finish.

The Spurs phenom started brightly but completely lost his rhythm after halftime. At one point, the 22-year-old missed 10 of 11 shots and finished with 24 points on an inefficient 9-of-25 shooting night.

Brunson drilled a huge three over Wembanyama during New York’s surge, while the French star also missed two crucial free throws late that could have restored San Antonio’s lead.

Now the pressure shifts firmly to the Spurs.

The Knicks head to San Antonio for Game 5 needing just one more win to complete an unforgettable championship run, while the Spurs must somehow regroup to keep their title hopes alive.
