Polish star Iga Swiatek breezed past Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the Korea Open on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals of the event in Seoul.
Swiatek coasted to a 6-3, 6-2 win in straight sets over Cirstea to set up a last-eight clash against either Emma Raducanu or Barbora Krejcikova.
“For sure the conditions are much different from our last tournament," Swiatek said following her triumph at Seoul, which has been experiencing incessant rain over the past week.
“Happy that I could adjust quickly. I really love it here, it’s beautiful when it’s not raining so happy to be here," the 24-year-old added.

World number two Swiatek, defeated in straight sets by eventual finalist Amanda Anisimova in New York two weeks ago, faced no serious challenge from unseeded Cirstea.
Swiatek, whose father Tomasz competed in rowing at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, secured the first set in 49 minutes on her sixth set point.
The top seed maintained that momentum into the second set, breaking the Romanian immediately. Despite a few minor setbacks, Swiatek concluded the match with minimum fuss.
The 24-year-old, chasing her 25th WTA singles title, will play the winner of Thursday’s later match between Britain’s Raducanu and Krejcikova of the Czech Republic.
Swiatek, who has six Grand Slam titles to her name, clinched the Wimbledon title in the year 2025 with her double bagel win over Anisimova, who avenged her defeat in the championship clash with a win over Swiatek in the quarterfinal of the year-ending US Open in Flushing Meadows.
