Kovur MLA assures transparency in grain procurement process

Kovur MLA and TTD trust board member V. Prashanthi Reddy has assured the farmers that the grain procurement process will be undertaken in a transparent manner.

The legislator made a surprise visit to the grain procurement under way at Vavilla road of Vidavalur mandal in SPSR Nellore district on Saturday, where she spoke over call with Joint Collector M. Venkateswarlu, giving him instructions to address the problems raised by the farmers.

She spoke to the rice millers and farmers simultaneously to work out a solution to several pending issues such as the availability of gunny bags, errors in weights and measures.

While announcing that anyone trying to take advantage of farmers would face severe action, Ms. Prashanthi Reddy also directed the officials to ensure that there were sufficient gunny bags to address the shortage crisis.

She also called upon the societies and the officials to ensure coordination between rice millers and the farmers by bridging the communication gap.
