The Kollam unit of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Saturday arrested a sub-engineer of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 from an employee of a private company. The accused has been identified as Nazeer I, a resident of Kannanalloor in Kollam, who is posted at the KSEB’s Chathannoor section office.
The complainant, a native of Pathanamthitta and the operations head of the company, had applied for an electricity connection for the company’s newly constructed curry powder production and marketing facility at Kummalloor in Kollam about six months ago. However, the sub-engineer allegedly demanded bribe for providing the connection.
When he reached the facility for a site inspection, he was caught red-handed while accepting bribe from the complainant.
