Kochi: A KSRTC bus was vandalised by a two-member gang that intercepted the bus in Udayamperoor on Monday night. The accused assaulted the driver as well.The accused waylaid the bus when it was heading towards Wayanad, and the trip was cancelled following the attack.
Police registered an FIR and began an investigation to identify the accused.According to police, the accused chased the bus on another vehicle and forced it to stop. They attacked the driver, hit the sides of the bus, and smashed the headlights.The passengers proceeded with the journey on another KSRTC bus. Police suspect that the attackers were youths who couldn’t board the bus. However, the exact reason for the attack is still under investigation.Police invoked charges of wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, mischief causing damage, acting with common intention, and damaging public property against the accused.Police said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to trace the accused.Man held for causing ruckus: Railway police arrested a 27-year-old man for attacking police officers at Aluva railway station on Monday.
Muhammed Yasin, of Aluva, assaulted senior civil police officer Shahesh and civil police officer Prashanth. Both officers sought medical treatment at Aluva general hospital.According to police, the accused, who was in an inebriated state, was harassing passengers and taking photos of women. The accused also attacked the officers who attempted to intervene and stop him. Following this, railway police apprehended the accused.The accused was produced before the court and remanded in custody.
