The Thiruvananthapuram district conference of the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) concluded with detailed plans for setting up a science centre in the State capital on Tuesday.
The science centre is envisaged as a space where scientific curiosity can be developed among children, youth can take up scientific study and engage in scientific discussions, and researchers can discuss their topics of study with like-minded people. Its objective is to use science and technology to empower society.
The science centre will be a facility with digital resources. It will be elderly and disabled friendly and focus on gender studies and spread of rural technology. Besides scientific lab, digital studio, and science library, it will have a conference hall and dormitory too.
The conference demanded through a resolution that steps be taken to make toilets by roadsides operational.
The blueprint for future activities was presented by KSSP State secretary V.K. Nandanan.
B. Nagappan is the new KSSP district chapter president, Anil Narayanaru the secretary, and R. Jayachandran the new treasurer.
