Kerala Students Union (KSU) district secretary C.H. Mubas criticised the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), alleging that the organisation was creating divisions among students on the basis of religion and should be kept away from campuses.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Mubas alleged that the MSF was promoting a political culture rooted in religion. He referred to an incident at MM Knowledge Arts and Science College, Kannur, where, according to him, the MSF involved a mosque committee to pressure a KSU candidate to withdraw from the election.
The remarks followed an incident in Kannur where KSU activist Ajmal Roshan of Alavil was allegedly assaulted, reportedly in connection with disputes over nominations for the student elections at Sir Syed Institute, Taliparamba. Responding to the development, SFI State secretary P.S. Sanjeev said KSU’s criticism was in line with what the SFI had earlier stated about the MSF.
