Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao took strong objection to the language used by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on defections and political ethics, and questioned if the BRS too was shameless when it inducted MLAs from all the opposition parties during its two terms.
“Did Mr. Rama Rao suddenly remember the word shame now? When MLAs were being inducted into the BRS, did he not recall that word?” the Minister asked, and asserted that whatever steps Congress takes would be strictly within the framework of the law.
“MLAs have openly said they met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy only to discuss development works. The Speaker will take a decision as per law,” he clarified at a press conference here on Friday.
Targeting BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Minister said Mr. Chandrashekar Rao and Mr. Rama Rao should respond to the corruption allegations made by Ms. Kavitha. “Kavitha herself has alleged that thousands of crores were looted. Why is KTR silent on her accusations? Perhaps because if they respond, one family member will end up exposing another,” he said.
Defending MLAs who have been accused of shifting loyalties, Mr. Jupally said that MLAs were not children to act just because someone tells them to. He recalled that he too joined the BRS from the Congress for the Telangana movement struggle and returned to Congress realising how Telangana was looted.
The Minister said Mr. Rama Rao must explain why he was claiming that the government would collapse. “Is this part of a conspiracy by BJP and BRS to destabilise democracy?”
