Kuppam police arrest eight, seize ganja worth ₹20 lakh

Kuppam Urban Police reportedly arrested eight persons from West Bengal and recovered ganja worth ₹20 lakh from them.

According to Kuppam Sub-Division police officer Pardhasarathi, ganja was allegedly being smuggled from Odisha to Kerala. Police conducted searches in Kuppam and reportedly apprehended eight persons who were in possession of ganja.

The arrested have been identified as S.K Hasibul, S.K. Namizul, Soumik Madal, Suman Das, S.K. Hasinoor Zaman, Muttamik Malith, Kiran Modal, and Moazim Mondal, all hailing from various parts of West Bengal. Police seized 40 kg ganja and arrested the eight under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Mr. Pardhasarathi said strict action will be taken against those who indulge in the transportation, sale or consumption of ganja. He urged the general public to give information about those peddling ganja or or engaging in suspicious activities.
