An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Friday morning after a handwritten bomb and hijack threat was found on board on a tissue paper, airport officials said.

The aircraft, carrying 180 passengers and crew, landed safely in Ahmedabad at around 6:40 am as a precautionary measure, according to Press Trust of India.

Officials said the diversion was ordered after a passenger discovered the note claiming that a bomb was present inside the aircraft. The pilot immediately alerted air traffic control, following which the flight was redirected to Ahmedabad.

After landing, all passengers were safely evacuated, and security agencies carried out a thorough search of the aircraft. “So far, no suspicious object has been recovered," an airport official said, adding that the flight would be allowed to resume its journey only after receiving final security clearance.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the source and authenticity of the threat.
