Mbappe scored eight goals and provided two assists in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, while he has eight goals and three assists to his credit in the ongoing 2026 edition.

Captain Kylian Mbappe is on fire for France in FIFA World Cup 2026. The 27-year-old footballer has played all six matches for Les Bleus so far in this year’s tournament and scored eight goals in addition to assisting three goals for Ousmane Dembele.
Mbappe, who is France’s highest goal-scorer in the FIFA World Cup as well as in international football, is the first player to be directly involved in 11 goals in this year’s tournament.

In the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup as well, Mbappe was directly involved in 10 goals. He played seven matches for France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and scored eight goals in addition to setting up two goals for his teammates.

No other player in the history of the FIFA World Cup has been involved in at least 10 goals in multiple editions.
Before Mbappe’s 11 goal involvements in this year’s FIFA World Cup, the last player to get involved in more than 10 goals in a FIFA World Cup edition was legendary West Germany forward Gerd Muller. In the 1970 edition of the FIFA World Cup, Muller scored 10 goals and assisted three goals for his teammates.

Apart from Mbappe, Dembele has scored five goals for France in six matches of FIFA World Cup 2026. The last time two players from the same team scored at least five goals in a single FIFA World Cup edition was in 2002.
In that tournament, Ronaldo scored eight goals for Brazil and Rivaldo scored five times.

In the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Mbappe has scored braces against Senegal, Iraq and Sweden and one goal each against Paraguay and Morocco, Dembele scored a hat-trick against Norway in the first half and one goal each against Iraq and Morocco. He also has assisted two goals in this year’s tournament.
