L&T arm bags water mgmt project in Assam

Kolkata: Construction major Larsen & Toubro on Wednesday said the company’s water & effluent treatment (WET) business vertical has bagged a significant water management project from Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board in Assam.The company didn’t provide the exact value of the contract, but according to its own classification, a significant order is one which is valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.The latest order win further strengthens L&T’s business presence in the northeast region, the company said in a statement issued here.The 24X7 water management project has been conceived to deliver safe and continuous water supply to the households in south-east Guwahati, the company said, adding that the project will improve the reliability of the city’s water system.

The scope of the project, bagged by the company, includes supply, installation, construction, testing and commissioning of barge-mounted intake system, raw water rising main, water treatment plant, reservoirs, booster pumping station and distribution network with household service connections.Apart from that, a fully integrated SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system for real-time monitoring and performance management, along with operation and maintenance for five years, is also part of the project awarded to the company.

L&T said the latest project reaffirmed WET's commitment to expanding its regional footprint and delivering sustainable and efficient water solutions across key geographies, while supporting communities with reliable and modern water infrastructure.
