The devotional drama, made on a shoestring budget of Rs 50 lakh, stunned the trade by minting over Rs 100 crore worldwide, becoming the first Gujarati film to reach this landmark.

At the heart of ‘Laalo - Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ is Lalo, an auto-rickshaw driver portrayed by Shruhad Goswami. Battling guilt, depression, and memories of past mistakes, Lalo spirals into alcoholism while struggling to keep his life together. A desperate attempt to make fast money lands him in an isolated farmhouse, cut off from his loved ones.

It is here that he begins experiencing divine visions of Lord Krishna. These spiritual encounters push him to confront his fears and buried trauma, setting him on a path of healing and redemption.His wife Tulsi (played by Reeva Rachh) and their daughter remain his emotional anchor throughout the narrative, adding layers of vulnerability and warmth to the story. Director Ankit Sakhiya reflected on the film’s journey, saying, “Laalo was always a deeply personal story for us, a film that captures devotion without preaching. We hoped the film would touch hearts, but the love we received in theatres was far beyond anything we had imagined.” The film also features Karan Joshi, Mishty Kadecha, Anshu Joshi, Kinnal Nayak, Parul Rajyaguru and Jaydeep Timaniya in key roles.

Released in cinemas on October 10, 2025, the film opened steadily before gaining strong momentum through positive audience response. Its Hindi version, which arrived in theatres on January 9, 2026, further expanded its reach. Within 51 days, ‘Laalo - Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, rewriting Gujarati box office history and overtaking the lifetime collections of ‘Chaal Jeevi Laiye’ (2019).

Unlike spectacle-driven entertainers, the film’s triumph came from its simplicity, faith-based theme and emotionally relatable storytelling.

The digital wait is almost over. ‘Laalo - Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ will begin streaming on SonyLIV from March 6, 2026. The movie will be available in its original Gujarati version. Given the theatrical release of its Hindi-dubbed edition earlier this year, viewers can also expect the Hindi version to be accessible on the platform.
