Disturbing scenes have surfaced at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, highlighting an alarming shortage of basic facilities. Family members were forced to physically lift and carry patients due to the unavailability of stretchers and staff.

Relatives were seen carrying elderly patients in their arms and helping them into vehicles, as the hospital lacked essential equipment. Despite KIMS being the largest hospital in North Karnataka and Hubballi being the state’s second-largest city, families claimed that even stretchers were scarce, making it necessary for them to manage on their own.

While a few patients managed to get stretchers, others had no choice but to carry their loved ones, especially the elderly, whose plight was particularly concerning.

Additionally, families complained about the absence of scanning facilities, necessitating trips to other locations, and reported a shortage of ambulances, forcing them to rely on private services. With insufficient staff to assist patients, relatives were seen pushing stretchers themselves, exacerbating the distress.

Public anger is growing, with allegations of negligence directed at hospital staff. Families are questioning how such dire conditions can exist at a major government hospital intended to serve the entire North Karnataka region.
