The newly inaugurated Lalitha PVS Institute of Medical Sciences in Guntur has commenced operations with more than 40 specialties and super-specialties, a planned capacity of 600 beds, and advanced tertiary healthcare facilities, hospital authorities said in a statement on Saturday (June 6, 2026).
Dr. P.V. Raghava Sarma, Cardiology specialist and Dr. P. Vijaya, Neurology specialist of the hospital said the state-of-the-art medical institution, inaugurated by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on June 4, marks a significant expansion of the Lalitha Group of Hospitals, which has been serving patients since 1990.
Spread across a 6.5-acre campus, the institute is equipped with advanced technologies including Artificial Intelligence-supported diagnostic systems, robotic-assisted surgical facilities, a three Tesla whole-body MRI, advanced cardiac and neuro cath labs, a comprehensive stroke centre, 15 laminar-flow operation theatres, and modern rehabilitation services. The hospital employs more than 120 medical professionals and over 1,000 staff members, with plans to create around 1,500 additional jobs in the coming years.
Dr. Vijay said Lalitha Hospitals has treated more than 15 lakh patients over the past 36 years and performed over 1.5 lakh cardiac procedures, 40,000 coronary angioplasties, 7,500 bypass surgeries, 30,000 laparoscopic surgeries, thousands of joint replacement procedures, and advanced stroke interventions including thrombolysis and thrombectomies.
The institute has announced plans to collaborate with Amaravati Quantum Valley to explore the use of quantum computing in preventive and treatment modalities. Emergency services for heart attacks, strokes, trauma, snakebites and poisoning cases will be available round the clock, supported by specialised critical care teams and on-site diagnostic facilities.
The hospital continues its medical education programmes, including DNB postgraduate training in several specialties, the statement added.
