Tiruvannamalai Collector K.Tharpagaraj inspected the identified government land for the proposed first mini-Tidel park in Tiruvannamalai.

The district administration has identified eight acres of government land for the proposed first mini-Tidel park on the outskirts of Tiruvannamalai town.

Accompanied by R. Rampradeepan, District Revenue Officer (DRO), Collector K. Tharpagaraj inspected the identified land in Mannurpet, a hamlet that forms part of Tiruvannamalai Corporation, on Chittoor - Cuddalore Highway. “Unlike acquisition of private lands that causes delays, government land helps to fasten the work on the proposed project. The park will help to promote Tiruvannamalai, not just as a spiritual town, but also a investors destination,” said a revenue official.

Revenue officials said that the proposed park will be built at a cost of 34 crore. The four-story building will be part of State’s initiative to establish such parks in Tier II and Tier III cities like Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Karur and Salem to boost job opportunities among educated youth in the region.

Initially, land for the proposed project was identified at key towns like Vandavasi, Cheyyar, Chengam and Polur in the district. As most of these towns are far from district headquarters, revenue officials said that it was decided that land for the proposed park should be identified within Tiruvannamalai town limits. Such a facility within Tiruvannamalai town will help officials to make frequent inspections to the park and attend to any inadequacies.

Revenue officials said that Tiruvannamalai town has better connectivity in terms of buses and trains to other districts and States. The town is also well-connected by arterial roads to neighbouring districts and big towns like Chennai, Bengaluru and Coimbatore.

Corporation officials said that the Arunachaleswara temple will also attract investors and IT professionals, who visit the park, to make a quick trip to the temple thereby boosting the local economy to grow. In terms of civic amenities, uninterrupted power and water supply will be provided to the proposed park by the civic body. The new facility will also get better roads and streetlights by the Corporation, officials said.
