INDORE: A law student has been arrested in Indore for allegedly selling fake NEET examination papers on Instagram and earning nearly Rs 30,000 by misleading people,The accused has been identified as Akshay Malviya, a resident of the Lasudia area, is a first-year law student.

He allegedly used ChatGPT to generate fake question papers and sold them through social media platforms, news agency ANI reported.Deputy commissioner of police (Crime Branch) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi said the accused charged buyers between Rs 50 and Rs 100 per paper and sold the documents to around 22–25 people, earning approximately Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 through the fraudulent activity."Since his action caused confusion among the people and created fake papers for financial gains, a case has been registered against him," DCP Tripathi said.He said the accused has been booked under Section 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66 (computer-related offences involving dishonest or fraudulent intent) of the Information Technology Act.The DCP said the Crime Branch was continuously monitoring social media under the directions of the commissioner and had received specific inputs, following which action was taken.

He added that the fake paper had no connection with the original NEET question paper, which was conducted on Sunday.The high-stakes re-examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 concluded across the country and at 14 overseas centres on Sunday.More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination on June 21 across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad. The examination was conducted in 13 languages, including Hindi and English, according to an official release from the National Testing Agency (NTA).(With agency inputs)
